El doblaje

Let's talk a little over the dubbing. Dubbing is the process of recording and replacing voices, for their subsequent use in different audiovisual areas: cinema, radio, television. It consists of replacing the dialogues spoken by the actors in an original language with other similar or similar dialogues in another language. In the case of video games, it can also refer to the way of adding voices recorded by actors instead of written dialogues. Cartoon dubbing is also done. International dubbing day is celebrated on June 12 of each year. The dubbing is defined as the way to record the dialogues again, spoken by an actor during its production, to improve the audio quality or to reflect the changes of dialogue. The music is also dubbed into a movie after finishing the editing, movies, videos and sometimes video games are dubbed in the local language for the foreign market. The person who doubles is called an actor of dubbing, and you will ask ... Why is it called dubbing actor if he does not appear on the screen?
Well, even if the actor does not appear and we do not see his representation, it does not mean that there is no need to gesture, to intone well, to move the body of the head or hands. Moreover, I would say that you have to be a great actor to do well and that the dub is credible. The most important thing is not the voice stamps. The most important thing is without doubt the interpretation and communication. We have to respect what the foreign actor expresses, that is why we have to transmit in our language the same sensations as the original actor. For my experience doing dubbing by hobby I know that one of the most important things is good diction and vocalization. For this there are a lot of useful exercises that will help you to get better vocalization. For example, the mythical exercise of placing a pencil in your mouth and trying to read a text aloud. Here I leave a link where you can see what the exercise consists of.

One of the most complicated parts of the whole dubbing process is the timing of the synchronicity. That is to say, that the voice coincides with the labial movement. Normally, it is easier for it to be well if it is the same actor who has interpreted before the camera the one who doubles himself. (Very rare thing since that only happens if at the time of the recording you were not listening well, or did not pronounce something well). If it is about doubling another person it is more complicated, but if it is about doubling another person in another language that is not ours .... there you have to work it much more. Keep in mind that words in English for example do not have the same duration at the time of pronouncing them and the same happens with Spanish or with any language.
The dubbing is done in dubbing rooms, or in recording studios. They are rooms specialized in sound. With two compartments. The monitoring room where the mixer is and where the audio levels are, and the padded and soundproof room that is where the bender sees the sequence listening to the original audio and while it is bending. It is necessary that they have the original audio above so that the dubbing actors can put similar voice tones, when someone shouts angrily, or moans of despair, fear etc.
