                                                                                        DUBBING ORIGINS  Dubbing at Spain didn’t start during Franquism as a lot of people think. It was in the republic with the birth of the sound film and the necessity of understanding the films that come from other languages. It wasn’t a unic strategy of our country, other countrys as Germany, Italy, France and  other nations of Europe also started to dub products that came from other places. There was also another reason: make the products cheaper. Many spanish films were shooted without sound and were later dubbed on a study.                                                                     DUBBING DURING FRANQUISM During the dictatorship, dubbing was increased with the promulgation, in 1941, the language defense law, created by the similar law created in the Mussolini’s Italy and moreover was approved in France and Germany. The objective wasn’t just to protect the national language, but to censor and to alter the dialogues for political or moral reasons. There were interventions that bordered to ridiculousness, just like the film Mogambo (1953), when the censors decided that the characters starred by Grace Kelly and Donald Sinden were brothers.
